From Layoff to 7 Continents Week 14: Three Dreams About Antarctica

Watch the video I recorded earlier this year after having two dreams about Antarctica. Looking back now, those dreams have taken on new meaning as I prepare to visit my seventh continent in my From Layoff to 7 Continents journey.

From Layoff to 7 Continents – Week 14

Earlier this year, something unusual happened.

I had three separate dreams about traveling to Antarctica.

After the second dream, I decided to record a video while the experience was still fresh in my mind.

At the time, Antarctica felt like a distant destination.

Today, watching that video feels completely different.

What once seemed far away is now just around the corner.

Over the past several months, I’ve continued preparing for the adventure by officially booking trips to Argentina, Uruguay and Antarctica, purchased my expedition jacket, developed an exercise plan for trekking through snow.

Looking back, I still believe these dreams are messages from my grandfather in heaven.

Dreams Can Keep Us Moving Forward

This journey has never been just about reaching Antarctica.

It’s about what happened after one unexpected life event changed my direction.

After being laid off, I made the decision to pursue a dream that had wanted for decades.

That decision eventually became From Layoff to 7 Continents.

Since then, I’ve explored five continents, experienced cultures I once only imagined visiting, and discovered that some of life’s greatest adventures begin with uncertainty.

Now, only two continents remain: South America and Antarctica.

Looking Back With a New Perspective

Rewatching the video I recorded months ago reminds me how much can change in a relatively short period of time.

Goals that once seemed distant can gradually become reality through consistent preparation and perseverance.

Every decision.

Every workout.

Every piece of expedition gear.

Every small step has brought me closer to standing on my seventh continent.

The Adventure Is Almost Here

Soon, I’ll be traveling to South America and Antarctica to complete a journey that began with one unexpected ending and a decision to keep moving forward.

As I prepare for the final chapters of From Layoff to 7 Continents, I’m grateful for every lesson this journey has taught me.

Sometimes we don’t realize how far we’ve come until we look back.
